The mountain refuge represents the first of the three stages of the Urlea project, with the next stages being the construction of a cabin and the extension of the refuge with a new building intended for a mountain rescue point.
In 2019, the Urlea cottage and refuge burned down, which led to the initiation of this revival project.
Our commitment to environmental responsibility has inspired a new, ecological, and sustainable reconstruction approach to minimize and eliminate the impact on nature as much as possible. The goal is to become the first sustainable high-altitude cabin in the Romanian Carpathians, certified by Cladirii Verzi RoGBc, and open to mountain-loving tourists.
The structure is entirely made of wood; for the foundations, metal pivots are infiltrated into the ground, and the thermal insulation will be made of basalt wool. Read more
